Rainlore's World of Music is in the process of establishing a presence on Facebook, so you'll be able to keep up with all the latest from there as well soon. A presence on mySpace Music has also been planned for some time and should be implemented fairly soon.

Finally, as we are nearing the end of the year, another first for Rainlore's World of Music. For the first time, "Book/s of the Year" will be selected and announced with the next update. (Only books published during 2010 will qualify.)

Dennis Burton's epic two-volume work, Lagan River, Black Mountain, reviewed on 5th August, has since been fully edited and is now available in its final version. Consequently, the review has been revised accordingly. This is the Belfast novel, and the great Northern Ireland story! An absolute must if you hope to ever understand The Troubles in Northern Ireland. A monumental work on a human scale.

At long last, the review of Lagan River, Black Mountain, Dennis Burton's epic two-volume novel based around "The Troubles" of Northern Ireland, is ready. While the review is based on a preview edition that is still to undergo further editing (which has been taken account of and assumed completed), this extraordinary gripping read should be the great Belfast novel, a veritable modern-day, Northern Irish War And Peace, but without the tedium and utter depression of Tolstoy. Lagan River, Black Mountain thankfully balances the horrific events, conditions and circumstances portrayed with just the right amount of good humour, and the 1,300-odd pages of the combined two volumes never even start to wear you down. On the contrary, you may find it impossible to stop reading beginning to end, and then you may want to start all over again. This work is just crying out for a mainstream publisher and hopefully, one will take this golden opportunity by the horns soon!

NB - Regrettably, upload of the above news for 8th August, and the complete site update, was delayed till 17th August.

The review of Dennis Burton's epic two-volume novel Lagan River, Black Mountain will come up very soon now. At some thirteen hundred pages this is an extremely beefy work to get through, especially as my time is very constrained presently. Exploring "The Troubles" of Northern Ireland, it is also a riveting read that I just hate to have to put down. Almost half way through now. It is hoped that a mainstream publisher will be found very soon for this insight into the whole Northern Irish situation. This could hardly be more timely in view of the tragic renewed four days of rioting that surrounded the events of "the 12th" (of July, the day of the traditional protestant Orange Order parades - on both sides of the border) this year.

Coming up soon here, a review of a veritable modern 'War And Peace', a substantial two-volume epic novel exploring "The Troubles" of Northern Ireland spanning five decades from 1941 to 1996 by Dennis Burton, to be published shortly. Review copies have arrived already and I can barely wait to get stuck into this grand epic. The author is an established best-selling novelist and biographer and is writing under a pseudonym for a variety of reasons.

Regrettably won't be fully up-and-running again for a while yet.

The 2008/09 version of this page has now been archived.

Finally, it has come to our attention that there appear to be a few minor problems with our web forms, specifically with radio buttons and check boxes, with some browsers. This is continuing to be checked out, but as everything seems to work just fine in Internet Explorer, it seems likely that the problem lies with the other browsers in that they may not have fully implemented this aspect of forms. In which case there appears little that can be done about it other than to suggest you temporarily switch to Internet Explorer in order to use our forms, if you are affected. Flash based forms might be another option longer term.

Given most reviews and descriptions of best-selling master storyteller W. A. Harbinson's fantastical 1991 novel Dream Maker previously encountered were factually inaccurate and fairly obviously seemed to indicate that their authors had not even bothered to actually read this novel as their plot summaries do not bear much resemblance to the actual plot, a retrospective review seems more than warranted. But apart from wishing to set the record straight, this is also a riveting good story, and Dream Maker is still found easily enough on the second-hand market.
